Jeff Hill, a former employee for the city of Fort Collins, Colorado, is expected to start working as Texarkana Arkansas's new public works director within the next few weeks.

Interim City Manager Harold Boldt has been in talks with Hill since he interviewed him on May 22 via video conference which then led to Hill visiting the city. "At that time, I used a more extended process that involved two local engineering firms, public works employees, the mayor, and two prominent citizens," said Boldt. "The feedback I received was very positive."

Public works has been without a director since Rachael Kaplan resigned in September. Boldt said the public works department has lacked much needed leadership without a director.

Jeff Hill's experience incudes:

  • A bachelor of science in civil engineering from Colorado State University
  • Licensed professional engineer in Colorado and Arizona
  • City engineer for Fort Collins, Colorado from 2005-2006
  • Operations engineer for Arizona American Water from 2005-2006
  • An extensive building background when he and his wife built homes while attending college.
