Street repair and noise pollution were among the top concerns of citizens at the Ward 3 meeting on July 12th at Park Avenue Baptist Church. Over 50 citizens from Ward 3 and several city employees including mayor Horace Shipp, Interim City Manager Harold Boldt, and Ward 3 Director Londell Williams were present to discuss what should be done with incoming tax revenue.

A group of ten or more residents that live on Capital Hill Road and Freedom Trail off of highway 82 were in attendance to request renovations to their roads. Junior Tippton said their road should be at the top of the priority list due to its condition.

Several other citizens also requested that the police crack down on noise pollution from people who cruise the neighborhood with loud stereo systems. Street lighting, abandoned house condemnation, and water and sewer concerns were also briefly discussed at the meeting that lasted close to three hours.

The Ward 3 meeting was the fifth of six meetings held in each of the city's wards. The sixth and final meeting will be held in Ward 4 at Hickory Street Baptist Church on 2923 Hickory Street on July 19th at 6 p.m.
