Inside City Government

The City of Texarkana, Arkansas has operated under the City Manager form of government since 1961 which provides for the hiring of a professional administrator to operate the City on a day-to-day basis. This form of government combines the political leadership of a seven member Board of Directors with the managerial experience of an appointed administrator. All other department heads and employees work under the direction of the City Manager to provide service delivery systems to correspond with community values and Board of Directors policy priorities.
