WEEKLY SERVICES:
Household Garbage (rubbish, trash, waste or
refuse matter, or vegetable matter from a kitchen, market or store, ashes, paper food
containers and like household waste) is picked up from each residence twice weekly.
Depending on your address, pick up days is Monday-Thursday or Tuesday-Friday.
Residents may call 779-4977 to find out what day's garbage is picked up in
their area.
Garbage must be in 20-35 gallon regulation garbage cans with tight fitting
lids. Cans must be placed where they are easily accessible to the haulers.
Garbage will not picked up from inside a fenced yard, under a carport or upon
a porch. If you have a drive-through alley, cans must be placed at the edge of your
property at the alley.
Yard Waste (grass, brush and tree trimmings) is
picked up on Wednesday. Tree trimmings much be neatly bundled, or in disposable
paper or plastic containers and placed on the curbside of the street adjacent to the
particular resident for street collection. Please do not include trash and litter,
such as aluminum cans, bottles, paper cups and wrappings, etc., with the bagged yard
waste.
DIAL-A-TRUCK:
Residents may call 779-4971 and schedule a day to have their junk items
picked up on the front curb of their property. The City has been divided into a
Monday area (South of 9th Street), a Wednesday area (Between 9th Street and Arkansas
Blvd.), and a Friday area (North of Arkansas Blvd). You may call up to 72 hours in
advance of the scheduled day for your area to have junk items picked up. Items not
taken are building materials, tires and yard waste.
DUMPSTER:
The City has made available to city residents a large roll-off dumpster
located at the Public Works shop, 2601 Dudley Avenue, to deposit junk items (excluding
building materials, tires and yard waste). The Shop yard is open Monday-Friday from
8:00 to 5:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 8:00 a.m. until noon. Closed holidays and
holiday weekends. Please have a driver's license and water bill with you to verify
you are a city resident.
COMPOST:
The Texarkana Water Utilities Waste Water Treatment Plant, located on
South State Line, is open from 8:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Monday thru Friday, for the
convenience of disposing of yard waste (leaves and limbs - limbs cannot be over 6 feet
long nor over 4 inches in diameter).
RECYCLE:
Miller County's Transfer Station (approximately 4 mi. south of Texarkana
on County Rd. 10) is open Monday thru Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturdays 8:00
a.m. to 2:00 p.m. to deposit your recyclable. Recyclable include aluminum cans,
glass (clear, green & brown, separated) tin/steel cans (rinsed), plastic bottles
(rinsed) and paper (white office, newspaper, magazines and cardboard). For more
