On 7/27/06 at 1:50pm Texarkana Arkansas Police responded to a report of a home invasion in the 900 block of E.5th St.
Officers were advised that an unknown black male entered the residence through an unlocked back door and was confronted shortly thereafter by a juvenile female who lives at the residence. She alerted other family members who were also inside the home and a confrontation/struggle ensued with the intruder. In the struggle the suspect was forced out of the house. It is unknown at this time what his intentions were upon entering the home.
The suspect ran north from the house and forced entry into another residence nearby. The second house was unoccupied at the time of this break-in. The suspect was seen by witnesses shortly thereafter leaving the second residence on foot with what is believed to be a firearm of some sort, possibly a rifle or shotgun that was taken from the home.
While officers were investigating this scene an auto theft was reported near the 1200 block of Laurel Street. Witnesses stated that a black male approached the vehicle, a green Honda Accord, on a bicycle and left the scene travelling westbound in the car. The suspect matched the description from E.5th St. It is believed that the keys were in the vehicle at the time of the theft.
This vehicle was located abandoned a short time later near Covington Homes in Texarkana Texas by a Bowie County Sheriff's Deputy.
At this time detectives are still interviewing witnesses and victims regarding the details of this case, as well as processing evidence from three crime scenes. The suspect is described as a black male, slender build, 5'10" to 6'1" and he is believed to be between 25-35 years of age.
