Texarkana Arkansas Police arrested a suspect on numerous charges in connection with a residential burglary that occurred on 9/20/06 at approximately 11:30am.
Police were initially called to a report of a residential burglary in a neghborhood near E.35th and E. Broad St. Upon arrival to the home officers met with the victim who stated that she was sitting inside her residence with her grandchildren when the suspect let himself in through an unlocked front door. The victim did not know the suspect and she immediately confronted him. The suspect was reportedly behaving in a bizzare manner and he reportedly began making sexually suggestive comments to the homeowner.
It was at this point that the suspect picked up the victim's 2 year old grandchild who was in the room. The victim talked the suspect into putting the child down and the victim along with her daughter and two grandchildren locked themselves in the bathroom and called for police.
Officers arrived shortly thereafter and discovered that the suspect had apparently removed his clothing inside the victim's house and was running naked through a nearby pasture. Officers were able to subdue and handcuff the suspect, but not before he had resisted arrest and been pepper sprayed.
The suspect, Tim Smith (w/m/19 Texarkana, AR), was transported to the Bi-State Jail and booked on charges of Residential Burglary, Assault 3rd, Fleeing, Disorderly Conduct, and Refusal to Submit to Arrest. He will also be held for a mental evaluation. No bond is set.
