On 10-3-06 at 12:20pm Texarkana Arkansas Police officers responded to a report of a residential burglary in progress in the 1200 block of E. 14th street. Upon arrival to the scene officers spoke with a witness who had observed a young black male running from the porch of the victim's residence. The suspect was carrying a crowbar. The witness pulled into the alleyway behind the residence and noticed the suspect attempting to conceal himself iagainst a storage building adjacent to the victim's house. When the suspect realized that he had been seen he ran from the alleyway and toward Arkansas High School which is approximately 1 block away.
The suspect/clothing description was given to other responding officers and while searching the area officer Lloyd Douglas spotted the suspect on the AHS campus. Officer Douglas checked out on the suspect who was crouching behind a set of stairs near the science building. The suspect immediately fled into the new AHS building. The suspect ran up the front stairs to the second floor where he was quickly apprehended by officer Douglas.
The suspect was identified as a juvenile. It is unclear at this time whether or not he is a student of Arkansas High. He is being held in the Miller County JDC on charges of Residential Burglary and Fleeing.
