Texarkana Arkansas Police Officer Zachary White recently completed Basic Police Training at the Arkansas Law Enforcement Training Academy in East Camden, AR.

The Basic Academy course consists of 480 hours of intensive training in academics, defensive tactics, firearms, and driving. Practical exercises and role playing scenarios are conducted in order to provide recruits with training in realistic scenearios that they will likely face in their career.

Officer White was selected as a squad leader during the course of training and in addition to this he placed 1st academically out of a class of 68 officers. Officer White will now enter 12 more weeks of the police department's field training program. This will provide on the job training with an experienced officer acting as a supervisor.

After the FTO program Officer White is expected to be assigned to the patrol division.
