Re: Domestic Violence at 222 Senator

On 09/09/07 at approximately 11:00 p.m. officers were dispatched to Wadley Hospital about a domestic violence case. Officer William Smith went to the hospital and spoke with the victim. The victim said that her live-in boyfriend had hit her in the eye while she was holding her two month old grandchild. The victim had bruising and swelling to one eye. Officer Smith determined that a warrantless arrest of the suspect, Michael Mason 32 years of age of Texarkana Arkansas, could be made based on the Arkansas Domestic Violence Law. Officer Smith went to the victim’s residence at 222 Senator to arrest Mason. Mason locked himself into the house.

Officer Smith then went back to Wadley to tell the victim that Mason was locked in the house and if she would allow the police officers into the house they would arrest Mason for Domestic Violence. While officers were driving toward the residence from Wadley Hospital the house became engulfed in flames.

Warrants are pending on Mason for Domestic Violence Battery 3rd, Endangering the Welfare of a Minor 2nd Degree, and Fleeing.

The Texarkana Arkansas Fire Department is investigating the possible Arson that occurred during this incident.
