Re: Multi-Agency Response to Robbery on Stateline arrests two suspects

When two men entered a local convenience store with the intentions of robbing the clerk they triggered a rapid response from three local law enforcement agencies early Monday morning that has led to solving five separate robberies throughout the Texarkana area.

At 2:00 a.m. two men entered “On the Run” convenience store located at 5106 N. Stateline. One of the men pointed a gun at the clerk and demanded money while a second guarded the door. Nearby a third man waited with the get away car. As the robbers attempted to leave in their get away car, they encountered a coordinated response from the Texarkana Arkansas, Texarkana Texas, and Bowie County Sheriff’s office patrol divisions that led to the arrest of two of the men.

Corporal Ron Hudson went directly to the convenience store and spoke to the victim, while other police units from all three agencies began establishing a perimeter and searching the area. Texarkana Arkansas Officer Wayne Easley found a 2001 green Pontiac circling the LaQuinta Inn at 5102 N. Stateline. Officer Easley attempted to stop the car as it left the parking lot. The car did not stop immediately; instead it drove from the parking lot onto E. 51st and then turned back into a second driveway belonging to the hotel. Two of the passengers then jumped from the car and ran toward the Holiday Inn. The driver of the vehicle, Kenneth Riley, 39 yrs of Wilton Arkansas, was arrested for aggravated robbery.

B.C.S.O. Deputy Todd Fore and his K-9 partner “Matchi” began a track of the two suspects that fled on foot from the car. TAPD Corporal Ron Hudson assisted the K-9 team as they searched for the suspects. George Riley 18 yrs of Little Rock, Arkansas, was located a short time later in the Links Apartment complex. Riley had attempted to cross the eight foot rod iron fence that surrounds the complex and had gotten his foot stuck on the top of the fence. Riley was arrested for fleeing and aggravated robbery while dangling upside down from the fence.

The third suspect ran further into the complex and has currently not been captured.

Through additional investigation of the Texarkana Arkansas and Texas Criminal Investigation Units the two men have been linked to five additional robberies in the Texarkana area. Other jurisdictions are currently reviewing cases to determine of the men may also be responsible for other robberies outside the Texarkana area.
